Introduction of Myself
Hi, Im Si Ying. Im a year 2 Rvian who is obsessed over zodiac astrology and the book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I absolutely love to read! But i read fictional ebooks on my phone instead of hardcover books or the newspapers. Window shopping is also one of my hobbies, its so fun to look at the items inside various shops and its also good exercise :). But I only do it during the weekends as the weekdays are busy days for me! Did I mention my zodiac sign yet?! I totally forgot about it and yet i call myself an astrology geek :p Im an Aries aka the first sign of the zodiac and a fire and cardinal sign. (I shall not bore you guys to tears by ranting about what these mean hahaha) Besides the sun sign there are also moon signs, venus and mars sign, the rising sign and...Sorry im ranting now am I.... About the topic of being whether I'm a girly girl or a tomboy, ill say am in between. The colour pink is my favourite like most stereotypical girly girls, but I am a girl who loves adventure, especially roller coasters! The feeling of free falling is just so exhilarating and really gets your adrenaline levels pumped up! I used to be really afraid of roller coasters though..but im glad i finally over came my fear and now love it! So that is me,Toh Si Ying. Next time i will tell you about my family as well, and how my brother leaves his stinky clothes lying around. (opps too much information) That's all for now folks! Bye!!!Poverty
I feel that being rich doesn't mean that one would be happy. Happiness is meant to be felt, it is something so priceless, yet at the same time extremely easy to obtain. Imagine a girl who has been spoiled all her life by rich parents, yet was never contented with what she have and had no friends due to her arrogance. She did not have to worry about material needs, yet was lonely and unhappy. Another girl coming from a poorer family, had to look after her younger siblings and help her parents in their porridge store. She was thankful for what she had and had many friends due to being cheerful and friendly. She also never complained about not having much personal time and did not pressure her parents to buy her the latest smartphone like her peers did. From the above examples i have demonstrated two different scenarios. It is a matter of ho]w contented we are with whatever we have, not about how much we have.
In the context of Singapore, we are a relatively well-off country, but yet we are still so unhappy compared to other countries who are not that rich. We may have been able to obtain plentyful of material needs, but do we treasure them?
I was exhausted after watching the chingay perfornance last night, which i had not been looking forward to at all. Contrary to what i had thought that experience had been really memorable and fulfilling. I initially thought that chingay was to celebrate Chinese New Year, but in the end it turned out to be a celebration which involved many people from different races, countries and all walks of life. I usually dislike sitting around and watching a performance, I felt that it was time consuming and absolutely boring; i had zoned out majority if the NE show in P5. I had never watched the national day performance, even more so the chingay parade on the television, as a result i had no idea wha to expect from yesterday's parade. However the colourful floats had caught my eyes and i found myself snaping pictures with my ipad instead of using it to play games like i had originally intended to. Due to my curiosity and my newly found interest in the chingay, i researched on the chingay on the journey back home in the bus. The first ever chingay parade was a compensation as a result of the ban of firecrackers in Singapore, by our then Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. The parade had become nsuch a huge success that it became an annual festival, but it only became a multicultural event in 1976. It has certainly changed since the first parade in 1973, when it had been a celebration just for the chinese, but now it is one for everyone; indians, chinese, malays, eurasians and every single nationality alike, coming together to celebrate this spectacular event.
Very interesting and unique
